GENERAL RULES

BEGINNING OF SEASON RALLY

1.                   Teams to sign in by 10am, first game starts at 10.30am.

2.                EN/FENA rules of play shall apply throughout the tournament.

3.                 Positional bibs MUST be worn.

4.                 Players may play for ONE team only.

5.                 Teams to consist of up to a squad of 12 players.

6.                 Matches will begin and end on the umpire’s whistle, immediately following the timekeeper’s hooter, indicating the start and finish of a match.

7.                 All teams to provide a QUALIFIED UMPIRE, to umpire the game following their own on the same court. If your umpire arrives late, thus starting the game late, and this is brought to the attention of the organiser, then 5 points will be deducted (every time this occurs) from your final score.

8.                 No allowance will be made for late arrivals: any team not on court for their scheduled match will forfeit the game/points, but may play a ‘friendly’.

9.                 No extra time is allowed for injury/illness (umpires note the rules on bleeding). Substitution is only allowed at half time (without delaying the turn around), in the case of injury INTO THE INJURED PLAYER’S POSITION, (teams may not change positions at this time, they may change positions at half time).

10.              All jewellery must be removed and nails to be cut short and smooth. This must be done prior to the commencement of the tournament. No extra time will be allowed for this. Only a wedding ring can be worn, if taped. Any player not complying with these rules will not be allowed to play, even if the match has started.

11.               Captains of both teams are responsible for returning the scorecard to the table.

12.              There will be approximately a half hour lunch break, so that teams can be regrouped.

13.              Teams are regrouped in the afternoon dependent upon the morning results.

14.              The afternoon session will begin around 13.00.

15.              Points will be awarded as follows:

(a)              5 points for a win

(b)             3 points for a draw

(c)              1 point for the losing team if they score MORE than 50% of their opponents score.

16.              In the event of a dispute, the Committee’s decision is final.

17.              The Committee reserve the right to make changes to the schedule that may be necessary.

18.              The NWKL cannot accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss, which may occur during the tournament.

19.              The tournament will take place irrespective of the weather.

20.            Games are 6 minutes each way, with NO HALF TIME (IMMEDIATE TURN AROUND), and one minute between games.

21.              Teams must toss to decide first centre pass and ends.

The rules are subject to change.  Any changes will be advised to players and officials at the start of each Beginning of Season Rally.
